Imagine someone cutting pictures out of magazines, with no rhyme or reason, and pasting them onto A4 sheets. That's basically my sketchbook, but instead of pasting magazine bits, I'm drawing.

On any given page, there's a mesh of stuff that embarrasses me, and stuff I'm proud of. This makes it impossible to sufficiently crop what I want to publish, unless I have a rare moment of deliberation, where some thing is the only thing on the page. This happens more often if I use a digital medium.

I only seem to compose out of desperation, or by cropping happenstance. I'd like to stop envying illustrators, and start behaving like one... namely: Not being lax about ideation and storytelling.
